DBO Claims Junior Basketball Titles
Don Bosco Oratory won both the boys and the girls titles at the State Junior Basketball Championship organised by the Goa Basketball Association at Don Bosco Panjim outdoor court.
In girls section Don Bosco Oratory ‘A’ defeated Don Bosco Oratory ‘B’ 37-04 in the finals. Niharika Singia who scored 13 points was declared the most valuable player. Charmaine Fernandes and Saachia Nathan with six points each provided good support.
In the boys finals, Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim, defeated Sonics 55-45. Roy Pereira (24) and Shawn Aranjo (19) were the main contributors for the winners while Preston and Stefan (14 points apiece) fought valiantly for Sonics. Roy Pereira was declared the most valuable player.
Cosco was the official ball of the Tournament.
Fr Joel D’Souza, director of the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Goa Basketball Association president, Fr Ralin de Souza, Secretary Ashley do Rosario, Chairman of Selectors Olencio Dias were in attendance conducting the event.
