DBO Champs at the first Tournament of the Season

The ALIENS-DBO Basketball tournament with 16 men’s team participating over the weekend came to an exciting finish, with DBO Panjim clinch the title 59-52 to be the first champs of the season. The young spirited side Aaron Fernandes and Malcolm, the two new entrants to the team, made a huge difference. DBO Panjim were off to a mesmerising start with 27 point lead at half time over their more experienced rivals. The 3^rd and 4^th quarter was one that Margao cagers pulled the act together to bring the scores to a close two point lead just one minute before closing time. In the end, Shawn and Roy with clever assists from Aaron convert quick 4 baskets to take the convincing 7 point lead. Roy (23pts), Shawn (16pts) and Aaron (12pts) dominated for DBO Panjim, while Spencer (18pts) and Daley (9pts) played for Don Bosco Basketeers, Fatorda.

Earlier in the first Semi-Final, DBO got the better of YMCA Knights 60-46, with DBO maintaining a constant lead in the game.

KJ’s lost narrowly to DB Basketeers, Fatorda 54-58, in a closely fought match. While at half time KJ’s were in a comfortable 8 point lead, the DB Basketeers did well to take a 2 point lead at the end of 3^rd quarter and a good 4 point advantage at the end of play.

Fr. Anand Noronha, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco Trasi, Karnataka, was the Chief Guest for the Finals. Aaron Fernandes of DBO Panjim, was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Tournament.
