INDIA BASKETBALL HEAD COACHES to CONDUCT Training Camp

Program for PE Teachers and Coaches

Coach Veselin Matic (Head Coach of India Men’s Team) and Coach Zoran Visic (Head Coach of India Women’s Team) will be in Goa conducting a four day Basketball Training workshop for PE Teachers and Coaches of Goa at Don Bosco Oratory, from 8th to 11th January 2020, from 10am to 04pm. The camp is organized as a series of camps to develop Basketball Coaches in Goa with skills to develop Grassroot as well as advanced skilled players.

 

The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, along with Goa Basketball Association had conducted and Basketball training camp in September 2019 with a record participation of 84 PE Teachers, who have begun initiatives in their own schools to systematically develop basketball in their schools. Moverover, GBA has already launched a Basketball grassroot development syllabus, to assist the PE Teachers and coaches in adopting a common training program in the state.

 

Coach Veselin Matic

Coach Veselin Matic has worked with various NBA Players such as Boris Diaw, Vladimir Radmanovic, Marko Jaric, etc., and has conducted Coaching Clinics in over 30 Countries. He is also official FIBA Scout for the FIBA Men World Championships and has coached in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, Poland, Iran, Libya, Lebanon and Syria. He has also been part of the team to create WABC Level 3 Coaching Manual.

 

Coach Zoran Visic, has coached the Russian Team – UMMC Ekaterinburg, and along with other country teams such as Lebanese and Yugoslavia. He has won the Euroleague Women and Russian Women’s Premier League

in 2002-03 Season.  He was assistant Coach of the FR Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro Women’s National Teams that participated at the EuroBasket Women 1995 and at the EuroBasket Women 2003. He was a head coach of the FR Yugoslavia women’s National under-16 team that won silver medal at the 1999 FIBA Europe Championship for women.

 

With support from the Sports Authority of India, the Basketball Federation of India, as well as the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Goa Basketball Association has coordinated this workshop to help PE Teachers and coaches to develop professionally and interact with National/International Coaches. The Workshop will be held from the 8th to 11th January, at Don Bosco Panjim, from 10.00 am to 04.00 pm to enable even the South Goa PE Teachers and Coaches to Participate. While the Training Camp will be free, only those PE Teachers/ Coaches who have participated in earlier programs and engaged in active coaching will be allowed to participate.
