Under-14 Selections Trials

It was encouraging to see today (24th July) around 58 (40 Boys + 18 Girls) participants at the under-14 selection trials at the Don Bosco Oratory indoor Basketball court despite the wet rainy weather that spared the kids a dry spell. Though a handful was 12 year old, the very enthusiasm was an encouraging sight to see the kids impress each other.

The lively participants after the registration of the names process were quick to be on their feet for the first training pattern of shooting. Two types of shots were expected and monitored. A set of free throws and a set of form shots formed part of the first drill. Simultaneously, the passing drill was done for the children in different corners of the court. The next set was done with 5on5 half court games by dividing the children into 5 teams. And finally a full court passing and shooting drill concluded the program. The same was done with the girls present.

Four members of the Selection committee were present, who would short list about 25 in each category. The final list would be made only after the State Sub-junior championship.

GBA sincerely wishes to thank all the enthusiasts and their parents who made it to the venue. This game is for you… and so our effort will bear fruit with this academy.
